Avertas Energy is pleased to advise that its Kwinana Waste to Energy project is moving into its critical stage of boiler water wall installation.
The boiler water walls are prefabricated elements that contain the water and steam piping that receives the heat from the waste combustion process.
These elements are large and require well co-ordinated logistics to ensure safe transport, erection and alignment for final welding in position.
Avertas Energy’s project is the first energy from waste project in Australia.
Energy from waste has proven to be the preferred solution of recovering energy and materials from the residual waste stream instead of this waste being sent to landfill.
The Project team have overcome various challenges since commencing Works, including navigating through the construction of waste to energy technology, which although tried and tested overseas, will be the first of its kind in Australia. Notwithstanding the challenges faced by all major construction projects, the Works are continually progressing towards completion. The planning team has been reviewing the status of Works to date, including the timing for completion of mechanical and electrical installation activities, along with commencement of commissioning, and have re-forecast the likely dates at which the Project will complete in the second half of 2022.
The Project timeline included in this update contains the current forecast timing of major milestones through to completion of the Project.
